09:08 pm - New Stills from the Sondheim Prom
Under the Cut are some new caps I got from the Stephen Sondheim Prom which is absolutely wonderful!

Sondheim Prom 2010

****EDIT*** About a week after I made the gallery, the user charybdiss uploaded beautiful quality videos of the songs on Youtube so I went back and took the stills from that instead.

How I planned what I'd wear tonight...Collapse )

Here are some captures I got from various Youtube users who uploaded parts of the BBC's broadcast of the Prom. There are some clips still available and incase you weren't able to catch it, go check them out on Youtube before BBC tracks them down and keeps us Americans in the dark!

To be released in April, it is an album coinciding with the show Maria did in 2009 at the Shaw Theatre, so it will more than likely be live!

Here is a link above to a clip I just found from the documentary I posted about a little while back. I'm still trying to look out for it or see how it may possibly be able to be viewed here in America but alas.

03:29 pm - Channel 4's War Oratorio
I just came across this when I looked over the bio in my King and I program. I don't know how I managed to go two years without knowing anything about it! Maria sings the role of The Mother

War Oratorio
First on More4 June 2007
A groundbreaking music film which traces a day in the life of three people caught up in the vicious spiral of war.

Feature written by the film's field producer, Susannah Price:

"War Oratorio is a unique collaboration between a classical composer, a poet and a film-maker. It embraces and connects two very distinct genres: a documentary about current conflicts and a newly commissioned oratorio.

The process involved a variety of people from soldiers to opera singers, security guards to sound technicians. The documentary raises questions both about the power of music and the value and purpose of trying to make an arts film in active conflicts.
